Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals defeated Spring Valley Junior Varsity Vikings 6-2 on Wednesday at Spring Valley High School.
Spring Valley Junior Varsity Vikings were the first to get on the board in the second when Amere Jefferson induced Baylor Reynolds to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the third when Fredy Layman doubled, scoring two runs, and Jacob Waters hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Jefferson earned the win for Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals. The starter allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Warren Evans started the game for Spring Valley Junior Varsity Vikings. The righty surrendered two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Waters threw one inning of shutout ball for Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals in relief. The hurler surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Layman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Layman, Logan Geddis, and A Burrows each collected one hit for Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals. Layman stole two bases. Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.
Will Walsh, Easton Gregorich, Jakhi Clea, and Kissiah each collected one hit for Spring Valley Junior Varsity Vikings. Reynolds led Spring Valley Junior Varsity Vikings with one run batted in.
Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals will travel to A.C. Flora Junior Varsity Falcons for their next game on Saturday.
