A.C. Flora Junior Varsity Falcons secured an 11-0 victory over the Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals on Saturday at Blythewood High School Stadium, highlighted by a six-run fifth inning.
The Falcons took an early lead in the top of the first inning after Scott tripled to drive in a run, followed by a two-run single from Dragner. Noah Flechas later added an RBI double, and another run scored on a passed ball to give A.C. Flora an early advantage.
A.C. Flora extended the lead in the fifth inning with six additional runs on four hits. Tim Koutrakous, Ben Cartin, and James Helfer each delivered RBI singles, while #27 added a two-run single. Brennan Fudger also contributed with an RBI groundout during the inning.
Bryson Franklin pitched three innings in relief for Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out three and walking four batters.
Pierce O’Donnell took the loss for Blythewood after pitching two innings and allowing five runs on four hits, with three strikeouts and four walks.
Dragner started on the mound for A.C. Flora and delivered a strong performance, allowing just one hit and no runs over two innings while striking out five and walking one.
For Blythewood, Coleman Strickland and Fredy Layman each recorded one hit. The Bengals also showed aggressiveness on the bases, finishing the game with four stolen bases.
#27 led A.C. Flora offensively with two RBIs while going 1-for-2 at the plate. Helfer, Flechas, Koutrakous, Cartin, Fudger, Dragner, Scott, and #27 each collected one hit for the Falcons.
A.C. Flora also demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing eight walks during the game. Alex Peraza, Parks Van Vlake, and Dragner each recorded two walks. Van Vlake also stole two bases as the Falcons totaled seven stolen bases overall.
Defensively, A.C. Flora played a clean game without committing an error, with Helfer leading the team with 11 defensive plays.
Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals will return home on Monday to face the Spring Valley Junior Varsity Vikings in their next matchup.
