Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals Defeat A.C. Flora Junior Varsity Falcons 12-8

The Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals earned an impressive 12-8 victory over the A.C. Flora Junior Varsity Falcons on Friday at Blythewood High School Stadium.

Blythewood came out strong in the top of the first inning, taking an early lead after an error brought in two runs. Jacob Waters drew a walk to score another run, Zach Hardy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in a run, and an additional run crossed the plate on a balk.

The Bengals extended their lead in the second inning when Will Corn delivered a sacrifice fly that scored two runs, followed by an RBI single from Amere Jefferson.

A.C. Flora responded with a big second inning, scoring seven runs despite not recording a hit. The inning included multiple walks, errors, and a sacrifice fly from Noah Flechas that helped the Falcons briefly shift momentum.

Blythewood answered back in the top of the third inning with another offensive push. Corbin Fulmer and Fredy Layman both delivered RBI singles down the left field line, while another Falcons error and a fielder’s choice by Jefferson each brought in additional runs.

Stephen Mixon earned the win for Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals after allowing zero hits and seven runs (none earned) over one and one-third innings while striking out one and walking seven.

Jamison Powers started on the mound for A.C. Flora and gave up two hits and eight runs (six earned) over one and one-third innings, recording three strikeouts and one walk. Landon Gilchrist also appeared in relief for Blythewood.

Amere Jefferson led the Bengals with two RBIs while going 1-for-2 at the plate. Landon Gilchrist helped set the tone offensively, collecting two hits in three at-bats and stealing two bases.

Blythewood was aggressive on the base paths throughout the game, finishing with six stolen bases and turning one double play defensively.

For A.C. Flora, Brennan Fudger recorded two RBIs and went 1-for-1 at the plate. Spencer Lindsay and Fudger each added one hit for the Falcons. The team also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks during the game.

Blythewood Junior Varsity Bengals will next face the Dutch Fork Junior Varsity Silver Foxes on Saturday.
